Supporting Australian Sport
Jayco is a proud supporter of Australian sport holding a special passion for cycling and basketball over a long journey. It all began in 1992 when Jayco financed an unknown female cyclist to the Barcellona Olympics. She went on to win Australia's first Gold medal in Barcelona, and Kathy Watt become an instant household name. I was at these Olympic Games and saw Kathy win this prize, one of the greatest prizes in sport, an Olympic Gold medal. Litttle did I know that years later I would forge a relationship with Gerry Ryan and Jayco in South Australia. Jayco supported the development of cycling sponsoring the South Australian Institute of Sport cycling team (SASI) through Team O'Grady. Many young cyclists were given an opportunity via this sponsorship and it was greatly appreciated. As time has gone by I've watched Gerry and Jayco's involvement in cycling grow and grow. Orica GreenEdge, Australia's face on the international cycling scene, is one of world cycling's champion teams. Again, this wouldn't have happen with out the backing of Jayco and Gerry Ryan.
As a result, Jayco has been instrumental in helping the sport in Australia over the past two decades and has supported numerous races throughout the country. Nearly all of Australia's top riders have ridden for Jayco at some point.
Jayco through the Adelaide Tour, as naming rights partner, will drive the next fleet of world-class cyclists to success. The Subaru National Road Series is a vital ingredient if we are to continue as a major player in world cycling. Our domestic young cyclists require first class events on Australian soil. Our foundation needs to be strong, supportive and professional for the next wave of international riders. The Jayco Adelaide Tour is committed to producing a high standard event. An event cyclists want to ride and race knowning it's safe and professional as they strive to be part of the next level. Without the likes of Jayco and others this would only be a dream. The Jayco Community supports our cycling events and teams. It's involvement can never be underestimated. Max Stevens, Race Director.
